El artista mexicano Diego Rivera es reconocido sobre todo por sus enormes murales distribuidos por América con un claro mensaje reivindicativo de los humildes contra el Poder, sobre todo en sus primeras décadas de arte y luchas contra lo establecido, aunque en las últimas épocas de su vida se le acusó de lo contrario. Y sí, también es conocido por ser el marido de la artista Frida Kahlo, pero aquí intentamos hablar de Arte.
Esta obra es un cuadro titulado "La jarra" del año 1917 en una época en que Diego Rivera estuvo por europa aprendiendo técnicas, sobre todo cubistas y con fuertes colores basándose en trabajos de Pablo Picasso, Juan Gris o Georges Braque. Periodo en el que trabaja sobre todo con colores puros, vivos y fuertes de color en línea con los trabajos de Juan Gris, sin olvidar que los detalles se podían resolver con técnicas puntillistas.
Esta obra se conserva en el Museo Reina Sofía de Madrid.
